Two People Killed in Motorcycle Wrecks

Two Shoals residents were killed on motorcycles in separate wrecks over the weekend. Police say 31-year-old Charlie Cook of Muscle Shoals was killed Friday night when he was involved in a wreck with an SUV at the corner of Sixth Street and Woodward Avenue. According to Muscle Shoals Police, Cook was riding his motorcycle south on Woodward Avenue, and the SUV was northbound, then turned left onto Sixth Street when the crash occurred. Cook was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second death happened on South Montgomery Avenue in Sheffield last night. 56-year-old James Hodges of Tuscumbia was killed while driving his motorcycle and also collided with an SUV near a fast food restaurant. Sheffield Police say the SUV was crossing Montgomery Avenue, and Hodges struck the passenger side of the vehicle. He was transported for medical treatment and died at the hospital.
